RESOLVED TO SUCCESS

Welcome to my blog and my first post! I struggled with the idea of a blog for a while because well, for starters, I was busy being a mom, a wife, painting faces and getting hair in my boots! I know the importance of sharing experiences and I hope that somehow I can inspire a mom, a wife or someone that wants hair in THEIR boots. As much of a social media butterfly that I am,  it is hard for me to share when it is truly about me, the real me. I didn’t want to make another blog about what is the hair trend or why I like glossy or matte lipsticks…although don’t get me wrong, I LOVE MAKEUP & HAIR! I’m just not your average bear.

I run a company of artists, work with some of the most elite in the business doing both makeup AND hair and I can smell BS a mile away. I am an optimistic pessimist! I love everyone, I trust few & I help as many as I can. I refuse to ever let any experience sour me, I wear my heart on my sleeve and I like it that way. I also love my hands full, why anyone would want them empty is beyond me. I have four beautiful and talented children whom I absolutely adore and a very supportive husband. We have a full house, a full schedule and between his schedule (he is a personal trainer and about to open a new gym as well) and mine, we sneak in time with each other.  It keeps things things exciting!

Five short years ago I started The Professionals Makeup, Hair & More. It was just myself and a friend and I wanted to create a company with talented but professional artists that understood the importance of superior client attention. When I told her the name I came up with she laughed and thought it was funny.

For me I felt like when we were on gigs they sometimes felt like covert operations! We dressed in black, we had only a certain amount of time to finish the job and we would swoop in, take over a room with makeup and hair stations, knock it out and just like that… we cleaned it up and were gone.  When preparing the night before, my husband would joke about all my gear for the job the next day. The Professionals was perfect….what I didn’t know is how the “More” would be so foretelling of what the future held.I have since gotten an extremely talented PR lady to create our new logo and she even tweaked our name for the better. I revamped our website and have had artists come and go. Some have even moved on to enrolling in cosmetology so they can do both makeup and hair.

For personal reasons, that friend never committed to my joint business venture, even though I handed 50% on a plate with a bow. Just goes to show to wait for no one. Follow your dreams and never let anyone say they are too big or unrealistic.  Cheesy I know, but if you can imagine it, you can accomplish it. I have made resolutions in the past but for the last few years I have set goals instead. Doing so has helped me stay on track and not be discouraged when in the short run of things I am not succeeding. I am able to look at the big picture. That big picture has expanded to makeup workshops, feature films, international television shows and working with many of the talented stars that I have admired all my life. Sharing this success with my loyal artists is an added bonus. Watching them grow and seeing how far they have come puts a big smile on my face.

I am excited to share the news of opening up a physical location that will house the makeup studio and salon for The Professionals. There are many more aspects to my new business venture and I can not wait to unveil each one of them through this outlet. It has been a slow and steady climb but I have enjoyed every moment. So as I stand at the top of my figurative mountain, I see another bigger and better one I want to conquer.

So here we go, please join me on my journey this year as I take my company to the next level.
